April,
that is one sweet gesture! It's too bad it was misinterpreted by someone. Don't take it to heart Sweetie. We all know you are a dear person and we love you. Maybe the wife was having a bad time or was feeling sensitive for some reason. Maybe her husband has given her reason to be suspiscious of who he emails and who emails him in return.
You didn't do anything wrong. You are such a wonderful and kind person. So like you to try to brighten up our days!

People's Obsessions over Yizuman's Single Mistake
by Yizuman init's amazing that after one panicked post i made in december that was considered a mistake after getting flamed for it and i retracted my post and apologized for it.

Chevynats, Bikerchic,
I'm glad you both seem to have heard what I was trying to say. It is so iffy when you post... no facial expressions, no tones of voice. I worry that my posts can sometimes seem angry or uncaring because of the missing elements.
I hope Yizuman will also see that I mean him no harm at all. I truly hope he will be ok and get on his feet soon.

Bikerchic,
you are a sweetie. I am sorry to hear about your son. That really sucks.
When I first saw Yizuman's posts my warning bells went off. I think it may have been because he proclaimed no real affiliation to the jws, it just seemed odd to me for him to come here looking for help. Now, I don't feel my gut instincts are infallible, so I tried to keep an open mind and just kept watching this whole thing develop. I have at times even considered trying to scrape up some money to send along. I mean, it sounds like a really sucky situation the poor guy is in!
I am the type who really wants to help. You can ask anyone that knows me... like two friends of mine. One was broke and stuck on the opposite coast from me. We sent him busfare and let him live with us and our two kids in a small apartment. We let him stay with us right through a whole year including various times of unemployment. He got his own place after a little over a year with us and quit his job a few months later... he wanted to come back. We realized that he needed not a hand up, but to really stand on his own. We said no as gently as we could. He got a new job soon after and stayed in the same apartment. He has been very responsible ever since. Another friend stayed with us for 3 or 4 months soon after the first had moved out. He too was finally motivated to get his own place. He now runs his own business and it is doing really well.
During that same large time period there were many others that I helped to lesser degrees. The woman who couldn't afford any presents for her kids for Christmas? I delivered many many brightly wrapped gifts with blank tags. I also watched her daughter for several weeks when she needed it for health reasons... but after associating with her for a couple of years it became obvious she was always going to be stuck where she was. No amount of help would ever be enough, She was just a person who collected and created one crisis after another.
It is sad but some people you can't help. They can get all set up with everything they need and they will somehow lose it all, over and over again. I don't know if Yizuman is one of those types, or if he can be helped or if he is just a really patient scam artist. I just can't tell, so all I can do is watch and see what happens. I really do hope, if he is sincere, that all things will work out well for him and that he will get the help he needs.

Judge & Doctors conflict at release of Rapist
by Matty injudge orders rapist set free d.a., doctors oppose releasing sex predator
phillip matier, andrew ross, chronicle staff writers .
despite objections from the contra costa county district attorney, the state department of mental health and even his own doctors, a 32-year-old rapist under treatment at atascadero state hospital has been ordered released.. cary verse -- a twice-convicted violent sexual offender -- is set to be sprung as early as friday by order of judge john minney of contra costa superior court, perhaps to martinez.

Chemical castration might make him less aggressive or impotent in a sexual sense, but rape is not a sexual crime.
Just because he can't get it up doesn't mean he won't attack and use objects to do the penetrating. This is a crime about hate. In this case it seems like the rapist hates himself, his own orientation. He projects that hate onto other males, perhaps those he percieves to be homosexual?
It's a sickening situation. I wouldn't want him living or working near anyone I love.

Re-activtion: Half-assed attempt!
by Thechickennest inwell, after 12 years of inactivity we got our call about three weeks ago on the phone for the borg's reassimulation effort.
a young elder and good friend of my wife and i called to invite us to the co visit, and by the way "is there anything we can do as do encourage you and moneic to return to the meetings?
" i said just plain "no".
-
Witch Child
Good for you Chickennest!!! I was also advised to beat my firstborn son. So Much pressure was put on me that when he was two years old... I spanked him at a meeting. I am ashamed to admit it, but I did it. My usual practice was to just take the little guy out when he got antsy. I would nurse him or read stories to him. All the dubs were horrified with me for not hitting him to make him behave.
After I tried it at the one meeting I always said that we'd "tried it and it didn't work with our child." Guess what? He has turned out to be "high functioning autistic."

Were You Depressed Because You Were A Witness?
by minimus init seems that many people here have been greatly depressed because they were or still are jehovah's witnesses.
what about you?
-
Witch Child
Yes. The cult really made me feel bad about myself. I could never do enough. My efforts didn't count. I made myself sick trying to work hard enough for their god so I could get back the love they all seemed to have for me in the beginning.... My depression was cured, 100% the day I left.

No Eternal Life---Now What Hope Do You Have?
by minimus inone thing all witnesses have had in common is the belief that they would someday inherit everlasting life.
as more and more express the thought that they really don't have much hope for the future, has anything replaced the hope of eternal life in paradise earth?
or are we ultimately, hopeless?
-
Witch Child
I am living my life the way I want to. i have found love and happiness in abundance. I don't need anything to replace the 'live forever' hope because my day to day life is worth living.
I expect, when I die, to find out what lies beyond the veil. I am not afraid of what's back there, I'll take it as it comes.

Laci Peterson
by Mulan inhas anyone here been following the disappearance of the 27 year old pregnant woman from modesto ca?
what do you think happened to her?
for some reason her disappearance is very upsetting to me.

Witch Child
Yeah, think about it, if your spouse was missing and maybe dead would you be lying about anything to the police? I sur as heck wouldn't! Even an affair! I'd take my lumps for it and pray it helped the police find my husband. (not that I've ever had an affair, mind you, but IF I had.)
I keep hoping she just might be alive... but I so seriously doubt it.
